Matt's Monthly Memories - 4 months pregnant

Well we are coming up on the 18th….and I am not talking about the last hole of a golf round. Sunday begins the 18th week of our pregnancy. The time has really flown by looking back at it all. It used to seem like every month took forever because we would have bad news and have to wait a cycle or it would not be a positive pregnancy test.

It is amazing how everything changed once we finally had a positive test that stuck. It feels like Bailey and I are both relieved of a huge stress in our lives. Another thing that changed for me is that I feel the need to finish up projects around the house before Chub comes. I know that when he/she comes into this world I will have much less time to get projects done and I have a feeling that I will want to relax when I have the opportunity, not finish projects.

People always joke about pregnant women being crazy and demanding, well…..that isn’t really very true with Bailey. She has had her moments when she gets emotional and a little crabby, but for the most part she has been a very pleasant pregnant woman to be around. It is crazy to think that we are nearly half way through this pregnancy, but we are so excited to become parents.

And now for my survey:

How far along? 25 years, 20 weeks and 4 days

Total weight gain/loss: Up about 8 pounds since we found out, but I think most of that is to do with the fact that I finished my marathon and stopped running completely. Actually stopped all working out really. Too busy with projects and making sure my wife has everything she needs.

Sleep: It hasn’t really changed for me. It may actually be better now that the cats are starting to get locked outside the bedroom at night. Bailey doesn’t wake me up in the night to kick the cats out or clean up Cheuse’s puke.

Food cravings: Tator tot casserole, mainly because it sounds horrible to Bailey so she won’t let me make it.

Best moment this week: Trip to Des Moines to purchase the baby room furniture and determine the stroller that we were going to buy (bought it the next night on-line, and was delivered yesterday).

Movement: I am pretty much constantly moving. I guess that is just life.

Gender: I am most definitely a boy. As far as our child, I don’t really care as long as we have a healthy child in the end.

Labor Signs: Not really signs, more like emails, texts, lists or phone calls of what

Bailey wants me to get that night or week.

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: When Bailey could clean without worrying about chemicals…stupid bathroom.

What I am looking forward to: Finding out the gender in 19 days!

Weekly Wisdom: If you try doing everything for your pregnant wife before she even asks for it, there will be less arguments and less emotional/crabby wife moments.
Milestones: Got rid of the bed in the baby room so we can start making it into the baby room.
