Boy Or Girl Test #5

And the final test that we used was the chinese gender chart, which says: It's a girl! (Chinese Age 28 (I guess they make me older than I really am with chinese age...hmm) at Lunar month 2)

And the Parents.com survey says: Your Results
It's a Toss-Up!
Yep -- it could go either way!

So after a week of tests our final Running Total is:

Boy - 3
Girl - 2
Unknown - 1

I guess we'll leave it up to the experts and find out in TWO DAYS!!!! I can hardly even contain myself. I hope this weekend goes fast!

Boy Or Girl Test #3

Today's quiz was at childbirth.org. Here's what they say:

You have a 55% chance of having a boy.
And you have a 44% chance of having a girl.

And Here's Why...
You are carrying the extra weight around the hips and bottom, so it's a girl.
The hair on your legs is growing faster during pregnancy, so it's a boy.
Boys are carried low. You are going to have a boy.
Sleeping in a bed with your pillow to the north indicates that you will be having a boy.
Your feet are not colder than they were before pregnancy. You are having a girl.
You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread. You are having a girl.
Dad-to-be is gaining weight right along with Mom-to-be, which means that you'll have a boy.
The maternal grandmother doesn't have gray hair (dyed or natural), so a girl will be born.
You didn't have morning sickness early in pregnancy, so it will be a boy.
Your chest development has not been very dramatic during pregnancy. You should expect a boy.
Since the sum of the mother's age at conception and the number of the month of conception is an odd number, it will be a girl.
A needle on a thread held over your belly moves in circles, so you will have a boy.
Your urine is a bright neon yellow color, so you will have a boy.
You have a craving for salty or sour foods, which means that it is a boy.
Your nose hasn't changed during pregnancy, which indicates a girl.
You have been craving fruits, so it is a girl.
Your baby's heart rate is 140 or more beats per minute, so it's a girl.

Boy- 3

So I thought this week I would post several "gender predictor" quizzes and see what the majority of the tests say we are having.

Boy or Girl?

Pregnancy has you looking better than ever

Your urine is bright yellow in color

Your nose is spreading

You hang your wedding ring over your belly and it moves in circles

You are having headaches

You add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is an even number

Boy Total: 10

It's a girl if:

You had morning sickness early in pregnancy

Your baby's heart rate is at least 140 beats per minute

You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear

Your hair develops red highlights

You are carrying high

19 weeks: mango

This is an impressive week for growth! Your baby weighs approximately 8-9 ounces and is about 6 to 7.5 inches long.

If you are having a girl, her ovaries now contain primitive egg cells. Lanugo (a covering of fine soft hair) appears all over the baby's body. This fine hair will remain until birth draws nearer. Sometimes you can still see some on the baby's face and ears after birth. Also apparent is vernix, a milky white covering that protects your baby's skin from its aquatic environment. Can you imagine how wrinkled you'd get if you were in water for nine months? The placenta continues to grow and offer nourishment for your baby while the permanent teeth buds are forming behind the already formed milk teeth buds. Growth becomes rapid now and your baby begins to store iron for the production of red blood cells. Your baby can even dream (REM sleep)!

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Garden

This summer we expanded our garden so that we could have enough room for onions and cucumbers in addition to tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and green peppers. Matt built a little fence, with a homemade gate!

Matt has been a lot of help with the garden this year since the heat has been making me feel so sick. He will only eat the onions out of everything we are growing, but he still has turned into quite the gardener. We once again have been struck with blite!!! Which is a fungus that ruins tomato plants when it's hot and humid (hello, we live in the Midwest!). But he has been on attack mode since it showed up. Last year it completely ruined our garden, this year we have pulled an entire plant that had it bad, cut every branch off of the other plants that were infected, and sprayed the crap out of the plants with a fungicide spray. We're hoping we caught it early enough so we can continue getting these awesome basket fulls of vegetables!

2 of the 5 bunches of onions ready to be dried!

Mmmm... cucumbers, tomatoes, and green peppers!

Summer projects: siding/roof & kitchen

This summer we started to take on our "before baby" list. Two of the HUGE projects that we have wanted to get done since we bought our house a year or so ago were on our summer list; new siding and roof, and tackle the 1980's kitchen.

As luck would have it, we were hit by TWO hail storms in the last 12 months which our insurance nearly covered all of the new roof, siding and gutters.

As you might remember here was the front of our house the day we bought it:

And the front of our house now!!! I LOVE how it turned out. I've always thought gray and white were super pretty!

And for the biggest change... our kitchen. My wonderful (and slightly crazy husband) tackled this entire project in about 3 days. He began on a Friday night at about 5pm with putting a liquid sander on all of the cabinets, and by Sunday afternoon it had all been primed twice and painted, new hinges, and an island constructed, I was amazed (and in love because he wouldn't let me be around the paint since I'm pregnant, so I got out of this huge project for the most part). A few days later we got 95% of our counters in, and Matt installed them(they messed up and had to reorder a corner piece). I LOVE OUR KITCHEN NOW!!!!

The before: (don't you love the plaid picnic blue wall paper?!)

The after (with baby Cheuse and all):

18 Week Survey

How far along? 18 weeks 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: -5 lbs (on our home scale)

Sleep: I've slept really well this week. I'm woken up at 3 hungry a few nights, but if I ignore it I can usually get back to sleep.

Food cravings: BLT's.... AMAZING!!!

Best moment this week: Feeling movement a few times again

Movement: You know it! I felt him/her 3-4 times, once while we were checking out at Wal-Mart and I wouldn't move to help Matt because I just wanted to stay still and keep feeling it =)

Gender: I now am in the girl zone, only 13 days left until we know for sure!!!!

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? In (I would LOVE for it to pop out any day so I actually feel like I look pregnant, instead of extra fat)

What I miss: Not being out of breath so easily

What I am looking forward to: Feeling more and more movement

Weekly Wisdom: None this week

Milestones: Nothing in particular, getting very excited to almost be at the half way point!

18 weeks: sweet potato

Your baby is growing rapidly. His bones are continuing to harden and the pads of his fingers and toes are formed. He even has his own set of fingerprints developing as well. Your baby is approximately 5.5 inches and weighs about 7.5 ounces.

Your baby can kick, swallow, and sleep. He also is developing his stomach, intestine and colon and the intestines are collecting meconium (the initial stool a baby will pass after birth). If the baby is a boy, the prostate will begin to develop this week as well. The skin is still a bit pink and transparent and his ears still stick out from his head. The four-chambered heart begins to build up muscle cells and is pumping between 25 and 30 quarts of blood per day.

He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born.

Matt's Monthly Memories - 4 months pregnant

Well we are coming up on the 18th….and I am not talking about the last hole of a golf round. Sunday begins the 18th week of our pregnancy. The time has really flown by looking back at it all. It used to seem like every month took forever because we would have bad news and have to wait a cycle or it would not be a positive pregnancy test.

It is amazing how everything changed once we finally had a positive test that stuck. It feels like Bailey and I are both relieved of a huge stress in our lives. Another thing that changed for me is that I feel the need to finish up projects around the house before Chub comes. I know that when he/she comes into this world I will have much less time to get projects done and I have a feeling that I will want to relax when I have the opportunity, not finish projects.

People always joke about pregnant women being crazy and demanding, well…..that isn’t really very true with Bailey. She has had her moments when she gets emotional and a little crabby, but for the most part she has been a very pleasant pregnant woman to be around. It is crazy to think that we are nearly half way through this pregnancy, but we are so excited to become parents.

And now for my survey:

How far along? 25 years, 20 weeks and 4 days

Total weight gain/loss: Up about 8 pounds since we found out, but I think most of that is to do with the fact that I finished my marathon and stopped running completely. Actually stopped all working out really. Too busy with projects and making sure my wife has everything she needs.

Sleep: It hasn’t really changed for me. It may actually be better now that the cats are starting to get locked outside the bedroom at night. Bailey doesn’t wake me up in the night to kick the cats out or clean up Cheuse’s puke.

Food cravings: Tator tot casserole, mainly because it sounds horrible to Bailey so she won’t let me make it.

Best moment this week: Trip to Des Moines to purchase the baby room furniture and determine the stroller that we were going to buy (bought it the next night on-line, and was delivered yesterday).

Movement: I am pretty much constantly moving. I guess that is just life.

Gender: I am most definitely a boy. As far as our child, I don’t really care as long as we have a healthy child in the end.

Labor Signs: Not really signs, more like emails, texts, lists or phone calls of what

Bailey wants me to get that night or week.

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: When Bailey could clean without worrying about chemicals…stupid bathroom.

What I am looking forward to: Finding out the gender in 19 days!

Weekly Wisdom: If you try doing everything for your pregnant wife before she even asks for it, there will be less arguments and less emotional/crabby wife moments.
Milestones: Got rid of the bed in the baby room so we can start making it into the baby room.

Exciting News!

No, we don't know the gender yet, but.... I have convinced my loving husband to do a monthly blog post with this thoughts about pregnancy, and then about the baby once he/she is here!

I am so excited! As most of you know, I'm quite the talker, anyone and everyone can know exactly how I'm feeling at any given moment. Matt, on the other hand, can come across as quiet when you first meet him. So I'm thrilled that you guys will get to know him better, and get to see his humorous side. (I've seen a sneak peek of his first post and I think you'll get a good laugh out of it.) =)

So stay tuned, post #1 will be coming tomorrow!

17 Week Survey

How far along? 17 weeks 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: -4 lbs since becoming pregnant, +1 since starting with my current doctor at 8 weeks pregnant

Sleep: I've been sleeping great except for 2 nights this week when I was up at about 3am, and then it takes about an hour to fall back to sleep

Food cravings: Nothing in particular

Best moment this week: Getting to hear the heartbeat again last Wednesday!

Movement: YES, twice this week I felt some pokes and nudges, still very faint but exciting!

Gender: I now am in the girl zone, only 20 days left until we see our little peanut and find out the gender!

Labor Signs: None thank you very much

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Nothing

What I am looking forward to: Feeling more and more movement

Weekly Wisdom: Enjoy every moment of being pregnant, the time passes way too quickly

Milestones: Feeling movement!

July 11, 2010

17 Weeks: onion

Your baby will begin to form fat this week. The fat begins to deposit under his skin and is important in heat production and metabolism. At delivery, fat will account for 2-6 percent of your baby's total body weight. This will help him maintain his body temperature when he is born. Your baby is approximately 5 inches long and weighs in at about 5 ounces. This means that the baby now weighs more than the placenta.

His movements are becoming stronger and more frequent now. Reflex movements are fully functional as your baby will regularly suck and swallow and loud noises outside the uterus may actually cause the baby to startle.

Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker.

16 Week Appointment

Our appointment yesterday went great! The baby's heartbeat was 160 bpm. The nurse let us listen for quite a while. I just laid there with a HUGE smile on my face. It is truly the coolest thing to hear the heartbeat. I'm now starting to sway and think that maybe I am carrying a girl! =) Although all of the nurses assure me that the "old wives tale" is not accurate, I still think it has a little bit of truth to it.

All of my tests from our last appointment came back normal. The doctor measured me and I'm assuming since she didn't say otherwise, the baby must be measuring "on" for our due date.

In other good news I think I felt the baby moving again today. It wasn't as strong of a feeling as last time, but I'm still pretty sure it was the baby, which helps to make up for feeling like crap today. I'm completely stuffed up and having some major stomach issues. It's definitely a different feeling being sick and pregnant, I worry more about our baby while I'm pregnant than I do about myself (but no worries, Matt is mighty concerned about my health).

Only 25 days until we know what this little babe is, so excited! =)

July 6, 2010

16 Week Survey and 4 Month Belly Picture

How far along? 16 weeks 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: -4 lbs

Sleep: I've been sleeping great this week

Food cravings: Lonestar steakhouse ranch dressing (they make their own dressing, BUT I found out that you can buy their dressing to take home, so I did!!)

Best moment this week: I THINK, I may have felt the first kicks this week. Still waiting for more of them to confirm.

Movement: YES, I BELIEVE I FELT THE FIRST KICKS! All of my friends said they felt "flutters", well this was no flutter. I felt about 8 jabs in about 30 minutes to my very lower abdomen. I've never felt this feeling before, and I don't know what could create a poking feeling except for our babe, so I'm thinking this was the real deal! So excited to feel it again!

Gender: Back to thinking boy. Only 27 days until we find out!!!!

Labor Signs: None thank you very much

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Not a darn thing, I could be pregnant forever

What I am looking forward to: Our appointment tomorrow and hearing the heartbeat again

Weekly Wisdom: Enjoy every kick that you can now, once they become painful you won't have quite as much joy feeling them.

Milestones: 4 months pregnant!!!

July 4, 2010

16 weeks: avacado

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Your baby is emptying his or her bladder every 40-45 minutes. The limb movements are becoming more coordinated and vigorous. The head is erect and the legs are developed. Both the gender and muscle movements are easily detectable with ultrasound.

Father's Day

A tad late with this, but it seems like we've been running like crazy the last few weeks.

Father's day we had a great day! Matt went golfing with my dad while I went to church with my sister (who was back from Florida) and my mom, then we met up with my grandpa and his wife, Matt and dad, and my aunt and uncle from Nebraska for lunch. After lunch we headed out to do some mini golfing and go cart racing for dad's father's day present. We then headed to dinner with Matt's dad... what a day.

Although it was ridiculously hot, we still had a good time. Maybe we will even make go carting and mini golfing a yearly event!

Keri started in the lead and was able to maintain the lead for the win!

Poor Matt... last place. (Although admittedly by everyone, it was impossible to pass in these go carts)

And finally, Daddio... happy even with 2nd place. =)
